Illustrating a moment in time that triggers the imagination to include you in the story. It’s as if you are looking through the lens of a camera and you zoomed in until all you can see is what really is being said. I often leave faces out of my work in order to encourage this process. I love the simplicity and richness of layers of paper and how it aligns itself to my subjects and their story. It is a treasure hunt every time I flip through a magazine or an old book looking for colors, words, statements, and images. I begin with a simple sketch and after making piles of paper treasures I begin to adhere them to my board, allowing the story to unfold. Sometimes the story changes as I go. Just like our lives.
