I have a strong family tree of quilters that inspired this colorful piece. My Grandma Grace loved to point out and talk about some of the pieces in her quilts, telling me what the cloth had been repurposed from. "This piece here I cut from my Mother's apron, and over hear, well this was from my old kitchen curtains." The quilt I pieced together is out of found paper, mainly from old National Geographic magazines. The background has a section of Eastern Kentucky and Southern Ohio maps honoring the birthplaces of my Grandmothers. You will also see the definitions of heritage, Grandmothers and quilt from an antique dictionary tucked into this piece as well.
